camarush is pleased to be involved with the first annual SPOKES ride. SPOKES is an acronym for Suicide Prevention: Our Knowledge Erases Stigma.
This event was founded by Tanya and Jeremy Brittain six months after Jeremy’s sister, Sarah, attempted to commit suicide after a long battle with depression.
An avid cyclist, Jeremy wanted to participate in a charity bike ride to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, but was unable to find one. With the support of family, friends and some very generous Sponsors, SPOKES was born.
Our mission is to erase the stigma associated with suicide and mental illness. We hope that by sharing our story without shame, we will help others do the same.
On September 19th, 2010 SPOKES is holding the first annual charity bike ride to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. If you or someone you know has been affected by suicide or mental illness, we’re asking you to join SPOKES as a participant, volunteer, sponsor or donor.
camarush has decided to assist in the donation of a few helmet cameras for the ride, to help the organization capture video of this great event for promotional uses and to share with the participants.
Although this ride is occurring in Connecticut, the topic is universal. Please visit SPOKESride.org to make a donation.
