Drool-Worthy Video: Alaska Summer Singletrack

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

This is a great video showing all of the potential of the types of cameras we sell, such as the GoPro HD HERO, the ContourHD1080p, and the Drift HD170. These cameras are incredibly versatile, rugged, and inexpensive, allowing you to use multiple cameras on a single shoot.

Philip Tschersich happened to mix up this video a variety of different mounts and angles on a singletrack mountain bike ride in Kodiak, Alaska. The video definitely sets itself apart and is easily watchable because of the multitude of angles and camera moves, yet it’s the same typical bike ride down a hill that everyone else films!

I’m sure everyone is going to ask what mount Philip uses that swings around his helmet!  We posted a sample video of this accessory on our Vimeo channel a while ago to test the waters about who would be interested in us producing such a product to the masses.  Let us know!

Want an inexpensive way to make your own multi-camera video? Rent multiple cameras from camarush!

Drool-Worthy Video: Mega Avalanche!

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

This week’s drool-worthyness is just mind-blowing in the fact of the content more than anything.  The Mega Avalanche is a downhill mountain bike race in the French Alps (Alpe d’Huez to be exact) that starts at the top of a gondola in the snow, crossing to rocky terrain where the snow fully melts, and finally finishing in green pastures at the bottom of the mountain.  It’s something like the opposite of the Tour de France!

Now, helmet cams are not the primary camera throughout the video, but they are used sporadically from bikers and skiers (who happen to be filming the up-close action).  It’s a great element to keep the viewer engaged and feeling as if they are participating themselves.  The rest of the video is filled with awesome helicopter shots, and if you can afford that, you can probably outfit every single rider with 3 helmet cams from camarush for the next event!

Check out the insanity below!

camarush attends “Follow Me” film screening

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Last night, we had some time to take in an early showing of “Follow Me”, a great new mountain biking flick by the Anthill Films crew. The film, part of a fundraiser for the Los Gatos High School Mountain Biking team, had some incredible editing, great camera angles, and of course, stellar riding.

On hand was Cam McCaul, pro rider, and one of the stars of the film.  He probably had some of the most insane moves in the film.  Super aggressive riding and some insane jumps to go with it.  One of the really neat sessions was the dirt riding in the middle of nowhere of Baha, Mexico.  Some new styles of that footage that I personally have not witnessed.

camarush was on hand and we donated a free rental away to a lucky raffle winner.  We aren’t sure as to who it was, as we had to leave right after the viewing, but hope to send it out soon!  We also dished over some extra raffle tickets to some young kids, and hopefully they made the most out of them.

Here are some really weak iPhone shots of the event!
