Drool-Worthy Video: Tower Climb

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

OK, so this video is not in HD, it’s not a multi-camera action packed movie, it’s not even incredibly exciting!  BUT…. it made me crap my pants.

Our hero straps on a helmet cam to do his job…. which just happens to be climbing giant antennas to change lightbulbs.  This particular antenna happens to be higher than the Sears Tower.  And he has to go to the tippy top.  With no safety ropes at some points.  Scary.

Watch and learn.

Doing your own exciting climb soon? Well, we plead with you to avoid it. But if you do, don’t forget to strap on a GoPro, Drift, or Contour from our store!

Drool-Worthy Video: American Time-lapse Ad

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

OK, so we never really feature big budget material as a drool-worthy video, but this one cannot be skipped for the time-lapse lovers in all of us.

As you know, we at camarush are huge time-lapse fans, as seen in the invention of our camalapse product (which was subsequently written about on Gizmodo this week, as well as many other blogs around the world). Don’t have a camalapse? Get one here!

Ah-hem, let’s get back to the *other* advertisement. Anyhoo, Levi’s paid a team of guys to travel across the US of A doing an incredibly unique time-lapse looking stop motion video. This is a time-lapse to rule the rest! It took 14 days of travel across the States in an RV, taking meticulous scene measurements all the way, for each individual frame. Before I go on, check it out here:

Awesome, huh? Still don’t think so? You have to check out the “making of” video. There, you will see that this video was made up of 2,770 individual, planned-out shots. I can barely plan out one shot, much less 2,770!

Have an awesome video or movie that you would like up for contention on our blog? Give us a shout on Twitter, Facebook, or our forum!

camalapse: the perfectly tiny time-lapse mount!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Now anyone can easily add time-lapse photos or video with a slow-rotation pan to their next movie.  Introducing… the camalapse!

It’s quite simple, attach the bottom of the camalapse to a standard tripod or set it down on a low and stable flat surface.  Attach your GoPro HD HERO ( with tripod adapter), ContourHD1080p (with universal mount adapter), or any other small camera to the top.  Point your camera where you would like the recording to end and twist the top half of the camalapse to the point you would like your recording to start.

Start recording with your camera, and the camalapse will take care of the rest. You can set it to record for 1 hour and 360 degrees, or less of a rotation.

A great feature of the camalapse is its diminutive size.  It’s so small and light, you have no reason not to pack it up with your camera and take it with you on your next outing.  Just pull your camalapse out, mount the camera right on, and wind ‘er up!  Setting up for perfect time-lapse pans takes just seconds.  It really lends credence to the old saying “Hurry up and wait”!

Here is our introductory video:
